Rushil was so nervous before his first recital. He played more timidly than he would have at home but he did a great job! Kevin, his teacher hosts a recital once year for all his students at a soup kitchen and the money he collects goes towards a meal for the residents. It's quite casual, people walk in and out as their performance comes up and since drums are pretty noisy, so no need to be very quiet. Rushil likes his teacher but more than anything, he enjoys the attention he gets showing off his skills to his friends.

Halloween!
I had trouble getting good pictures, the lighting was off. Sindhu dressed up as an arctic princess and Rushil as Anakin from Star Wars. All of Rushil's friends were wearing Star Wars costumes, it's amazing after so many years, boys are still fascinated by this theme.
After trick or treating with her friends, Sindhu said she had fun, but Halloween is no longer as magical as it used to be, she thinks it's because she is older :-( It was a bit sad to hear this....

Dassera 2012!
Marathon fest to get the Bommala Koluvu ready this year. 50-60 people came by so it was quite a production. I ran to Home Depot at 7AM on Saturday to get a patch of sod for the village scene and cricket field, I was quite happy with it in the end. We arranged the kolu in our guesthouse which was recently renovated. Sindhu is wearing my purple langa from my childhood given to me by grandfather. I'm so glad she wore it because the blouse is barely fitting and it was tailored specifically for this outfit. I didn't manage to get pictures of everyone who came but we did take a few pictures.
