Tennis Achievements...

Rushil has been participating  over the summer and fall in multiple tennis USTA tournaments.  He started off playing in 10 and under tournaments and then moved into the Green Ball (12 and under)  tournaments in the fall.  In the new year, we will be registering him for the next level of competition with the regular balls called the  Challenger level tournaments which will be interesting. In January, he will be participating in the 12 and under Green Ball Invitational tournament in Fremont. (I always try to sign up for the Fremont ones so our commute can be reduced).

Most recently, he won 1st place in  singles and doubles at Lafayette. Prior to that he won 2nd place at the Club Sport tournament (12 and under)  in Fremont.

Midsummer Night's Dream

Thursday was Sindhu's opening night of Midsummer Night's Dream at Irvington High School.   It was an elaborate production with impressive costumes and a beautiful backdrop. The kids performed wonderfully with so much enthusiasm!  Sindhu really enjoyed all the rehearsals.   There was an article in Tri-City Voice on Dec 3rd, 2013, if you look carefully, you can see Sindhu!

Audrey Whitby and Joey Bragg from Disney Channel shows also turned up for one of the shows. Joey's mom teaches at the school.

Sindhu's Flash Soccer Team Wins Tournament of Champions!

The FYSC Fremont Flash won the Tournament of Champions bracket on November 23-24. As Fremont division champions, the Flash had the privilege of playing the best from other cities including the Pleasanton Lady Hawks, Danville Earthquakes and Hurricanes. The first game the Flash got off to a slow start offensively against a sharp passing Lady Hawks team, but played stellar defense and solid goal tending to take them 1-0. The afternoon game brought the favored Hurricanes against the Flash and the Hurricanes jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the National Anthem was over. The Flash made their adjustments and held them scoreless the rest of the way, but their rally fell just short at 3-2. Needing a win to advance to the championship game, the Flash faced a feisty Earthquakes team and escaped with a hard fought 1-0 win. The championship would be a rematch against the Hurricanes and the Flash were ready for them this time. With a positive attitude and great teamwork, the Flash took the early lead on a long bender by Kristina Ricci. The Hurricanes tied it shortly before half time as the teams braced for what would be a wild finish. The pace was relentless as the Flash defense turned back every attack they faced. With 15 minutes to go, Natalie Monroy took a crossing pass and redirected it with her left foot into the back of the net for the eventual game winner. Both teams played magnificently as it was certainly worthy of a championship game.

The Flash team consists of Natalie and Alyssa Monroy,  Jocelyn and Leticia Figueroa, Maddie Keswick, Eva Hernandez, Kristina Ricci, Amelia Woborny, Bella Hintzman, Renae Maskey, Nikhila Rao, Sindhura Modali, Alyson Himenes, Marissa Freitas, Megan van Sprakelaar, Tiffany Wong, Sarah and Megan Friedenberg, Coach Jose Hernandez Sr. and Jr., coach Nelay Rao, and coach Paul Keswick.
