Prasad has a number of friends that live in the apartment building we'll be moving to. Many of them have been complaining about the mosquitoes. We've noticed an increase in the last couple of weeks in our neighborhood and it's been very annoying but I hear it will be worse where we're moving to. Prasad has been obsessing about how to get around the problem. Some suggestions that have been floating around are to have a coil or an All Out placed in front of the door so the mosquitoes avoid the area and very few get in when the door is opened. This is somewhat efficient but then we're substituting chemicals for mosquitoes. The one solution that he keeps coming back to is to have an air curtain installed on the door. There have apparently been studies on insect control and air curtains which have shown it to be the most effective solution and there are additional side benefits like dust and humidity control. Prasad went one step further and got a quote from a local vendor. Apparently, we'll be one of his first residential customers, no surprise there, most of his friends think he's going a little too far. My take on it is who am I to complain if it keeps the mosquitoes out and maybe we'll start a trend. My only worry is that I will have a wind swept look every time I walk in and out of my house and I'm not sure how loud this device will be.
Adding further to this post, I had forgotten to mention that Prasad first's option was to create a screen similar to a mosquito bat which would zap any mosquitos that passed through the screen. I was like no way, what would that screen do to the kids if they ran into it?
