Festival of Visitors

After we got back from Goa, Prasad's 2 teenage cousins and parents arrived. We had not seen them since they were about Sindhu and Rushil's age! It really puts into perspective how quickly time flies. One of them has just graduated from high school and will go away for college this fall so it's a huge milestone and change in their family. Their other son Aditya is 14 and will go to the 9th grade. Aditya is great with younger kids. He entertained Sindhu and Rushil with non-stop fun. They played the Wii, real tennis, watched movies together, board games and just horsed around. Anil although a bit more shy and reserved also joined in on the fun. I was pleased at how easily they integrated into the family and how well behaved and affectionate they were. It's too bad it took us this long to reconnect again. Prasad's aunt enlightened me on how it was to raise 2 teenagers and the worries and joys that come with it. They are now entering a new chapter in Anil's life, college and are grappling with balancing often he should come back home so they know he's ok and at the same time giving him enough freedom . Looks like parenting just gets more and more difficult as children get older and I had a small peek of what is yet to come :-)

The same night they left, my sister and family arrived and then my father the next morning. Our house is like a zoo but it's so much fun and hard to go to work every day. Sitaram, Gayatri and children dropped in for one night. They are good friends of ours that live in San Jose and are visiting India. Gayatri seems to be sold on moving here but I'll have to work on Sitaram a bit. Sindhu wasn't feeling well so she didn't interact much with their sons but Rushil had a great time roughing with the boys and had a few fights too, boys will be boys.

We're looking forward to having a few more visitors during the next few weeks, Sindhu and Rushil will have a memorable summer, at least I hope they think so.
