The Mother of all Tantrums

We went to Prasad's colleague's house for dinner. Yet another family that moved from the US around the same time we did. It's uncanny how many people moved during that same period, I guess it should be no surprise since the schools let out in the US in June and the schools in India start in June. We had a lovely dinner, good conversation, and the kids had fun playing with their new friends. As we were heading out to go home, Rushil wanted to try out their go-cart bike. It's quite unique and their son set it up so Rushil could reach the pedals. Rushil was riding up and down their street at 11pm at night. Rushil was hooked. He asked if he could borrow their go-kart. We said no. He said he only wanted to borrow it for 1/2 a day. Again, we said no, and this went on and on. Rushil refused to go home, he started crying and making a big scene. This was the first time we met the family and I just wanted to move the whole scene to the car so at least the only witness to the unpleasantness was my driver. After we finally coaxed him into the car, between his sobs, he explained how if we were a little boy his age and saw that go-kart, we would also think it is the coolest thing, would want to bring it home, and borrowing it for 1/2 day was not too much to ask :-) This morning he woke up and forgot about the whole affair.

Aren't those scenes the most embarrassing?! Earth, open up and swallow me for a moment :-) Glad he forgot about it the next day.
